Education without borders

Erasmus+

The European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport. It gives young people and professionals the chance to study, take part in exchanges, do internships and volunteer abroad — with costs covered and experience recognised.

What Erasmus+ is

Erasmus+ brings together several strands of cooperation between organisations and people from different countries. The youth part of the programme supports non-formal education: short international projects where participants learn from each other, build skills and take an active role in society.

The Open Education Academy is an accredited organisation that sends participants to such projects and hosts international groups. We support the whole journey: from choosing a project to coming back home.

What opportunities there are

Youth exchanges

Groups of young people from several countries meet for 5–21 days to work together on a shared topic — from ecology and media literacy to entrepreneurship and human rights. Learning happens through games, discussions, project work and real conversation. Travel and accommodation are covered under the programme rules.

Training courses and seminars

Formats for people already working with youth: trainers, teachers, coordinators, volunteers. In a week, participants pick up concrete tools — facilitation, project design, evaluation, inclusive practices — and build an international network of partners for future initiatives.

Volunteering (European Solidarity Corps)

From two months to a year in an organisation abroad: working with children and teenagers, culture, ecology, social projects. The host provides accommodation, meals, transport, insurance and pocket money, plus mentor support and language classes.

Study visits and job shadowing

Short trips to see from the inside how youth work is organised in another country: municipal centres, NGOs, schools. Participants bring home ready-made solutions and cooperation agreements.

Who can take part

Young people aged 13–30

The age range depends on the format: exchanges are usually 13–30, volunteering 18–30.

Youth workers

Teachers, trainers, coordinators, volunteers and activists — with no upper age limit.

No experience abroad

Previous participation in international projects is not required. The working language is most often English, and A2–B1 is enough.

How to get onto a project

  1. 01

    Tell us about yourself

Fill in the form on the “Contacts” page: age, experience, interests and what you want to focus on.

  2. 02

    We find you a project

We suggest suitable exchanges, courses or volunteering vacancies from the open calls and from our partners.

  3. 03

    We prepare the application

We help with the motivation letter, documents and preparing for the trip — from the visa to a cultural briefing.

  4. 04

You go and come back with results

After the project — a Youthpass certificate, new skills, contacts and, often, an idea for your own initiative.

What a participant gets

  • Youthpass — a European certificate describing the competences gained.
  • Practical skills: working in an international team, project thinking, communication, languages.
  • A network of contacts in organisations from dozens of countries.
  • Costs covered: travel under the programme rules, accommodation, meals, insurance.
